Observation and Prediction Activity on Sound

An observation activity on sound was conducted in the class and school garden. In the class, predictions were made on what kinds of sounds we might hear in the garden. A list of words on the white board was written on the predictions. Children came up with answers like chirping of birds, swishing of leaves, buzzing of bees, vehicle sound, insect’s sound, etc.

Children were taken for a walk in the garden. A shady and calm corner was spotted and all of us sat down on the carpet of grass silently and heard all the sounds around us. Children came back to the class and made a list of observations of the sounds heard in the garden — horn of vehicles, bursting of crackers, generator, wind blowing, chirping of birds, crunchy sound of dry leaves, and flowing of water in the fountain. The predictions and observations were compared and discussed.

PP2 — Learning English through Soft Board Activity

Learning English is fun and exciting for the little ones. Learners were given Flash Cards of CVC Words and Sight Words and were asked to make sentences and arrange them on the Soft Board. This activity helps to improve vocabulary and develop self-confidence.

Grade 1 — Activity on Prepositions

Prepositions were introduced to Grade 1 children. A list of prepositions was displayed and explained with actions and pictures. Children were asked to do actions to explain the prepositions, using anything available in the class. It was interesting to see children compete with each other to be more creative than each other.

Khushal used his Hoopla ring to explain “in” and "around". It was a treat to watch him swing the ring around his little waist. Siddarth placed his tennis racquet "on" his arm. Aahana asked her friends to stand beside her to explain “beside” and “near.” Lakshmi used a notebook and placed “on” the table. Yashica put her ID “around” her neck.

Shayan placed a small toy “on" his palm. Nikshith placed a pencil pouch “on” his head. Nakshatra put her school bag “on” her shoulders. Bhanu hopped "on" the floor. Nithi stood beside her friend to explain "near." Divya placed a notebook “on” her head. Many children used pencil boxes "under" the tables...very creative and interesting.
