Mr. Shiv Khera’s work Shop on Positive Parenting

Mr. Shiv Khera’s work Shop on Positive Parenting: Motivational speaker Mr.Shiv Khera conducted a workshop on positive parenting at Waltair Club on 27th February  Sunday. The event that organized by the School was attended by a large group of parents. Shiv Khera brought out the nuances of parenting through a series of interesting anecdotes. While stressing on the need to be friendly with children, he said equally important, parents to be good guides for them. Pointing to the unrealistic expectation of perfection from their children he insisted the parents to instill self discipline in them. Negative labels stuck to a child throughout their life time and sometimes even through generations. Acknowledgment and encouragement are the key words to deal with children, he added. Many common apprehensions faced by parents were dispelled by the speaker during the session that lasted for three hours. He spoke on factors relating to nuclear family, self-worth, high expectations, competition, degrading values and subjectivity of values.

The work shop was attended by a large gathering of parents and well wishers of the school. They interacted with Mr. Shiv Khera on particular and specific aspects of Positive Parenting.

Green Rangers Program

Green Rangers Program: 8 March. The students of Oakridge International School Visakhapatnam went live on FM Rainbow 102.0 for almost two hrs. They were covered by 5 TV channels. Several reporters also covered the event and interacted with our students. Turnout of parents was also large and some of them were also interviewed by the radio jockey. This too was live.

50 vehicles were checked within a span of 90 mins and the play was staged 9 times during the same time. The next follow up event planned is the recording for AIR that will be aired post 28 March.

Green Rangers Program was conceived to create awareness among people to reduce pollution by their own efforts. Due to the ever increasing number of vehicles on the road and the industries that have been mushrooming indiscriminately, air pollution is constantly on the rise. The consequence: Diseases, and more diseases. But the thing is, we can sit and crib about it. Or we can do something remarkably simple. Raise our voice against air pollution. And take a pledge to keep our vehicles green, and live it out for the rest of our life. So here come the Oakridgers – in the avatar of Green Rangers – lead the fight against air pollution.

When the program was announced the children happily came forward to show their might and this also serves a way to learn the topic “Pollution”.
