Lab Activity of Grade IX

As a part of the lesson "Is Matter Around us Pure", students of grade IX were introduced to the concept of solutions and mixtures. They were given Copper Sulfate, Potassium Permanganate, sulfur powder and iron powder and asked the to dissolve it  in water, and later filter them to observe the changes.
Students came out with the observations that copper sulfate and potassium permanganate solutions easily passed through the filter paper but sulfur powder and iron powder did not dissolve and were left in the filter paper.
