CELEBRATION OF WORLD MUSIC DAY

World music is a musical category encompassing many different styles of music from around the world, including traditional music, quasi-traditional music, and music where more than one cultural tradition intermingles. To bring every nation to oneness make a great effort to bring forth the celebration of the world music day on June 21^st every year celebrated over 104 countries and 514 cities. This was started in the 20^th century by some eminent musicians of the world to recognize the cultures of the world and the style of music which would give a great impact to the present music. Some people play music at home and open the windows to enjoy the world music day and some conduct free of cost shows in the street to raise the awareness of the World Music Day. This when started had a great impact amongst the people across the world sharing their culture, traditions as well as knowledge.

We Oakridge’s of the Oakridge International School Visakhapatnam also made an attempt to raise the awareness of the world music day on 21^st June 2013. The children were  excited about the program scheduled for this World Music Day. The students were categorized as Junior (classes I – V) and Senior (classes VI – XII) Schools respectively. The Junior School scheduled their program at 9.00 A.M. to 10.00 A.M. and the Senior School scheduled their program at 10.15 A.M. to 11.15 A.M. and the Senior School. The students took an active and energized participation at the show convened. The students hosted the show and the hostesses for Junior school were Naietal Jain and Purva Goyal and for the Senior School Ashka James took the center stage to conduct the show. This program began with a brief introduction to the students by the hostesses regarding the world music day by the hostesses followed by the vice principal’s address to the students regarding the world celebration of World Music Day and then the vote of thanks followed by the music facilitator concluding the show of energized performance of the different classes which can in turn of their timing given. This was not enough so we planned on having face painting of inter – house competition where the children painted their partners face as the children performed their singing simultaneously when the children performed their singing to give the colors of musical painting which went successful and smooth endeavoring the children of their thinking in a holistic manner.
