Children of Grades 1, 2, and 3 did a Project with the British Council
on the Topic ‘The Hues of the World.’ They were given information on 5
different places — Pakistan, China, Asia, Africa, and Australia. All the
students gathered in Grade 1 and were introduced to maps of the above places
pinned on the soft board. Cut-outs of monuments like Taj Mahal, Opera House, and
Buddhist Temple were shown to children and information was shared about them.
Cut-outs of animals like Giraffe, Lion, Elephant, and Buffalo were
shown and explained that they belong to the Savanna Jungles of Africa. Models
of Kangaroo and Panda, too, were displayed and explained that they are the
National Animals of Australia and China respectively. Artifacts of Africa like
tribal masks and paintings were also showcased.
Children of Grade 2 came dressed in colourful attires to portray the
national clothes of different countries — Sari and Kurta Dhoti (India); Salwar
Kameez and Dupatta (Pakistan); Skirts and Blouse, Jeans and T-Shirt (Australia).
After sharing information, a quiz was conducted and little ones enthusiastically
answered. Worksheets were prepared for Grade 3 which comprised match the words
with pictures, fill in the blanks, and questions & answers. Children were
exposed to the Culture, Animals, Flags, Clothes, etc.
