Children of Grade 2 did an activity
on “Food We Eat “. Children brought different kinds of fruits like
apples, bananas and kiwi, etc. They were asked to come front and
show the fruit and tell the name of the fruit , what it contains
and to which food group it belongs. All the children were asked to repeat the
spelling of the fruits. They were shown a few vegetables like beans, carrot,
coriander etc and asked to identify them. As they have seen seeds and coriander
,children recalled Plants lesson. They shared their
fruits with their friends and enjoyed.
Grade IV tried their hands on
making healthy and tasty haavndva (
it is Gujarati food ). It was an innovative
experience for the students.
Show and tell is a unique way of making the children to
speak. Here children were asked to pick up a vegetable and talk about it. This
enabled the children to variate the size, discuss about the colours etc. This
activity enables the children to improve their communicative skill and public
speaking.
Finding vegetables without seeing is very thrilling to the
little ones. Here the children are trying to feel and name the vegetables
without seeing which made them so excited and participative. This activity
enables the children to remain involved and it improves their thinking and
sensorial skills.
Role play is a very interesting tool for understanding the
concept well. Here children are pretending to be a baker and to be in a
Doctor’s clinic as it enables to improve their logical thinking and prediction.
This activity also enables to enhance their communicative skill.
Children of grade 2 did an activity on
Data Handling. Children were divided into 6 groups and they were given
different kinds of leaves .Children were asked to sort the leaves into
groups .Later asked some questions like “How many red colour
leaves are there”?, How many leaves are in total etc. Children understood
that Data Handling is collecting information and about pictograph .They
also enjoyed doing the activity.
Students of grades V learned how to
make delicious vegetable cutlets during their culinary (club ) class on 18/9/14 they
enjoyed the class very much .
The children of class 3 staged a play on
their Hindi lesson “ kuen ka pani “ in class which contains the moral to
never be greedy and be content with what you have.
Grade IV students tried their hands on making healthy
and tasty Pav Bhaji. It was an innovative
experience for the students
The children of class 2 presented a
play in their Hindi class on the lesson “mehnat ka fal “which carries the
moral of team work.
The Students of Grade 5 had a fun filled learning experience on the 18th of September. They were taken to the
NRI Institute of Medical Sciences. They were given a short lecture about the
various systems in the human body by Dr. Siva Prasad – HOD of Anatomy Department.
The students of 5th Grade
are presently going through their Lesson Plans about Body systems and this
lecture helped them understand those systems better. The students then had a
visual display of all the real organs of the Human body. They also visited the
Anatomy museum and saw numbers of specimens relating to the human body. The
Principal of NRI Medical College, Dr. K. S. N. Rao, assured all the students
that they are always welcome to their institute to learn new things. The
students were very pleased and left the college with a memorable experience and
enhanced knowledge.
