Children of class II had an activity in the
chemistry lab on the topic “Changing Materials – Solids, Liquids and Gases” on
5th November, 2013. The children were shown the change from Solids
into liquids, liquids into gases and again from gases into liquids and liquids
into solids by either heating or cooling a substance. They were taught that
heating and cooling cause changes in the materials.
In some materials, there is
a change of state. In some materials, the state does not change but new
materials are formed on heating. The children learnt from this activity
that materials can change from one state to another into any of the 3 states
and the changes in materials on heating or cooling can be Temporary or
Permanent.
