Class II EVS Activity: Changing Materials — Demonstration of Temporary and Permanent Changes and Making of Popcorn

Children of class II had an activity in the classroom on the topic “Changing Materials — Temporary and Permanent Changes and Making of Popcorn” on 9^th November, 2013. The children were shown different changes in the materials such as Squashing, Twisting, Stretching and Bending using materials such as orange, chunni, rubber band and a demonstration on making of Popcorn. They were taught about the Temporary and the Permanent changes in the materials.

The children learnt from this activity that when force is applied on a material, its shape changes. They also learnt that some materials regain their original state when the force is removed which is a temporary change and some materials cannot regain their original state even after the force is removed which is a permanent change. The children displayed full enthusiasm in making of the Popcorn and learnt that it is a permanent change of the material. They also finally enjoyed eating the popped popcorn.
