Latitude is the angular
distance measured north and south of the Equator. The Equator is 0
degrees.
Longitude works the same
way. It is the angular distance measured east and west of the Prime Meridian
(which has been arbitrarily set at Greenwich, England). The prime meridian is 0
degrees longitude.
Our shining stars of Grade
5 have done a little activity with the help of Globe in class, and learned to
locate the major Latitudes and Longitudes.
