Guest Lecture for Grades 3, 4, and 5 — Good Touch and Bad Touch

Ms. Divya Kothiyal, a child psychologist, spoke about ‘Safeguarding Children from Unsafe Touch.’ She said that many children fall prey to sexual abuse by adults and sometimes older children. A large number (15-20%) of adults report that they were abused or inappropriately touched as children! Children from all socio-economic classes are affected. This experience can leave very deep emotional scars on children and affect their development as happy, healthy adults.

Ms. Kothiyal educated the children about safe/good and unsafe/bad touch as a part of safety training that also taught children how to protect themselves in case such a thing happens. She added “The role of safe adult is important — your child will communicate with this person in case they experience Bad Touch.”

Let’s all work together to give our children a safe and happy childhood!
